What can I use to block out the AZ sun ?

by Florence
I can't seem to find anything to block out our Arizona afternoon sun when it's 105 degrees. My furniture outside will descinerate. My porch plants on the far side of the porch are even burning up. My area I want to cover as shown in the pic is 93" wide. Can't find anything locally. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Florence

Hang a tension rod in between the two posts and use a light weight pretty shower curtain or regular lightweight drape

I used the bamboo roll up shades from lowes. I ordered one at 96ins and about 72ins long. Cost about $40.
Don't buy the plastic - they will lose their shade: aka melt

It would be easy to make a curtain out of sheets, putting a rod through the top hem of the sheet and make a hem on the bottom to put some kind of rod or weights to hold it down. You could even make a few different ones to use for different seasons, moods, etc. Sheets can be an inexpensive way to shade and then just put it in the wash whenever it gets dusty from the wind blowing dust and dirt.
