My youngest was through seeing her changing table around and asked me to get rid of it. I decided to turn it from a baby essential to a cute, modern little table. This is phase one of the project but, soon, this will continue its transformation! So, phase one:
Boring IKEA changing table
Table dissembled. My big girl really felt like she'd conquered her baby-ness.
I forgot to photograph this part part but I measured the legs, sawed off part of the legs, land sanded the wood.
Painting the bases black. I did two coats in left over black acrylic paint. Then another coat on top in the wood stain color. Then added a coat of wax as well. As this part will eventually be changed, the black and stain was meant to be close in color with a bit of extra depth. Stay tuned when I get to phase two to see what happens to these base pieces!
Wood stain on the side boards. I used the color "kona" and applied two coats. Then a coat of wood wax. After that I buffed the pieces clean.
Beginning to reassemble.
almost done....
Phase one complete! No longer looks like something for children. Phase two will definitely turn it into something for adults ;)
