I do not recommend. Kitchen cabinets get a lot of abuse. I recommend using latex enamel gloss paint over primer. Mine look like a factory finish and no wear marks after more than a year.

Check into using an acrylic latex paint in an enamel finish. This kind of paint is made specifically for cabinets and trim. It will wash and wear much better than chalk paint in a kitchen. You will not need to wax or poly over this paint but you will need to prime first. You can have your primer tinted to match your paint choice.

I did this and love it. Lowe’s carries a “chalk finish” paint. (Valspar)Goes on easy. All you have to do to prep is clean the and remove hardware. When finished you use a wax for the final covering. I haven’t even finished the wax part and and spills wash right off. You won’t regret using this product.
