How to redo an antique dresser that has started peeling?

Is the veneer wood peeling? If so, you can glue down the places where it's peeling. You can then use filler and stain to the finish of the dresser. If the paint is peeling, you need to strip off all the paint with a stripper and start fresh.Helpful Reply -

First you mentioned it is an antique. If it really is you need to be careful deciding what to do. You can lower its worth $ wise by even removing too much dirt. It's called patina. if it is an antique, contact an antique dealer near you to find out who they use to repair items. If if it's not an antique. Do what they ^ said : ) .Helpful Reply -

Oh dear! Sounds like the veneer is peeling off. If it is an heirloom and important to you, you will want to take it to someone who can professionally repair it.If you are very brave, do a lot of research and learn how to do this yourself. It may require the purchase of clamps and tools you do not have which may discourage you from repairing this yourself.I know there are several people out there who will consider this an easy task, but I would not want to attempt it.The decision is how much you want to spend on the piece!Helpful Reply -
