Marble dressertops have lost their shine, need help!

Question

The marble countertops on my bedroom dressers have lost their shine just on the front half of the dresser and I can't find anything to bring it back. I have searched my local stores and tried all the brands they had but nothing's worked so I am asking for help!

If anyone knows of something that will actually bring the shine back to my countertops please let me know what it is!  I don't want to slam the brands that haven't worked for me so I won't list them all here by name.  Please tell me if you know of a 'wax' or any produt  (short of spray gloss) that will bring back a shine to my beautiful dressers.  I waited for over 30 years to finally get a beautiful matching bedroom set and I want that shine back.  I haven't spilled anything on them, I even use coasters to protect them but daily use placing items on them seems to have taken off the shine....I  need your help please all you great DIY'ers must know of something!

Have you tried Gel Gloss? It's a spray on polish / wax. You could also try car wax & buff it out.

Turtlle Wax for you car - that's the best product for marble. :-) it's also the best for tables because you can be spilling on it without problems :-)

You need to seal marble at least once a year to help maintain its gloss.  You can get the sealer at Home Depot, Menards or Lowes.  That goes for granite also.

I know of marble however i did see a product advertise just last night and it was about wax buildup over the years from using wax cleaning products and how it leaves them dull and not showing there true beauty, cant remember the name but it was an Omish made product, i am sure u can find it on as seen on tv.com, apparently u can even use it on painted surfaces. Beautiful piece of furniture by the way, if that doesn't work try calling an antique shop they may have good answers to your questions. Hope this helps

I believe the sunlight has faded the marble. As to what to do about it, I would suggest that you contact a professional.

Hi Sheri, I had the same problem but on my marble sinks in my bathroom. I didn't know that you could not use bathroom cleaners on them so I suppose that is what dulled them badly. I, like you, have tried everything out there that I could find. Nothing worked at all. Even gel glosses and polishes made for marble did nothing. One day in Lowe's I stumbled upon this stuff called The Original Gel-Gloss Kitchen & Bath Polish. It's a cream wax polish. Says it's for Countertops, sinks, spas, tubs, vanities and showers. It says it's for cultured marble and lists other surfaces as well. So I tried it and it didn't do what I wanted it to but I could see it did more than anything else I had ever used so I decided to try it again. All in all I think I polished it 3 times in a row and it did give me a really nice shine finally. If you have tried it in the past and it didn't work I say try it again but do it a couple of times and see what you get. I hope this helps.
