Vinyl. It comes in several thicknesses and can be wiped or vacuumed easily.Helpful Reply -

I think you need to use oil cloth, it is cheaper and comes in lots of colours and patterns. Becca is right it's easier to clean.Helpful Reply -

I think you just need to go darker. The white background will show every stain. As for the fabric, get something that is made for upholstery purposes and is tightly woven. Those that have a backing are particularly good as they stretch less.Helpful Reply -

An inexpensive option I used to recover a bar stool once involved using a tea towel from the dollar store. http://www.dollarstorestyle.com/Betterbarstools.htmlHelpful Reply -

Vinyl and oil cloth are both good choices as they wipe clean. If you use a cloth it should be heavy grade and washable. You could run an open hem along the bottom, put in either a draw string or elastic. when dirty just throw in the washer with towels and hang to dry. Use a separate piece of foam rubber for padding. Just don't wash the pad since foam falls apart if washed too often.Youtube has several how to's posted.Helpful Reply -
