Redoing inside of old cabinet that is large

by Judy
It is an 8 foot cabinet that we found on the side of the road, husband sanded and re stained the outside and it looks wonderful in our new closet. What can I do to make inside look like new again?

If there is a fabric that you like and one that compliments the decor in the room you're using it in you could decoupage it to the inside. I've used that with great results. I use Mod Podge, its very easy and lasts well.

I "upholstered" the inside of an armoire. Stapled fiberfill sheets, then stapled the fabric, turning the edges in. Then did the same to each shelf. I used clip in supports to hold the shelves, and painted the metal brackets to match the background color of the fabric. Let me warn you, you have to be a contortionist some of the time while doing this, but the end result was worth the effort. Did this more than twenty years ago and it still looks like new. Used a mid-weight cotton upholstery fabric. Hope this helps, Rosie

I would choose a color of paint that matches your decor of the room.

You could use wallpaper that matches the decor in your room. It's easy to use and can be changed out easily. (Dry strippable) There are some nice wallpapers that are textured and hide flaws in the surface underneath. We used a bead board looking wallpaper in our home.

    Line with closet cedar?

You could use peel and stick wallpaper on the back part and paint the shelves. I have seen it done on book cases and it looks great. I am thinking of doing it in my pantry.
