Use Annie Sloan chalkpaint. It's the absolute best paint. Totally non toxic, no smell to it when using it, dries quickly, very easy to use and paint with. You can paint anything with her paint, and I mean anything, glass, wood, concrete, plastic, leather, metal, etc. The best part is there is NO prep at all! You can use her paint right over finished pieces. No sanding off the old finish needed (unless you have chipping or peeling paint, in which case you would lightly sand to get rid of the flaky pieces). You will not be disappointed in Annie Sloan's paint. I've tried others and there is no comparison. Using her paint will transform the way you paint. Go to her website and find a local stockist in your area. Now go paint!

Latex is water based and chalk paint is made with it. I use chalk paint from Waverly - sold at Walmart in the craft section for only $6 a bottle. Lots of colors, no smell, and a nice finish. I seal my pieces with a water based polycrylic not wax.
