We have this wonderful overhanging patio umbrella at our cottage that is structurally sound however the fabric is in tatters. These things are so expensive so instead of buying a new one, I’d like to get some tips on how to replace the fabric, preferably “no-sew “!

Awesome umbrella but the fabric is in tatters. Please help! (PS, tips for the best paint and sprayer to cover rust on a metal shed would be welcome too !).

You can purchase Sunbrella fabric, if you have the requisite sewing skills.

You can order replacement covers for them way cheaper than replacing the whole umbrella

Try Home Depot, Lowes, the restore, Sam's, Costco. Usually this time of year they are on sale at a reasonable price.

    Reb,
How about asking a good seamstress or tailor for an estimate on replacement with your choice of fabric. They can advise you as to number of yards of material, and in what sizes (length and width). Panels could be hemmed with fabric glue and attached to each other with heavy duty velcro if it's too costly to sew.
Alternatively, what about a sail shade or 2 or 3?

Maybe use painters drop cloth, a pretty sturdy fabric, and you get quite a bit for low cost. Save the old one for the pattern, and yeah get someone to sew it for you. Boring color, but hey it’s painters canvas so ...paint it! It’ll give it some extra weather protection! Then save, starting now, to get a real replacement. Because I have no clue how long it will last. Oh! There’s also a spray to water repel fabric I saw at Lowe’s or Home Depot..
