Does chalk paint adhere to Formica?

Yes and yes. Chalk paint is a fantastic product but you can mess up your hard work if you don't protect the surface. You can use odorless polyurethane after your through. Use several coats. I wouldn't lay food directly on any of it because of the possibility of contamination. Use a cutting board. May I suggest using a stencil to give your counter interest.Helpful Reply -

yes. Clean the Formica with mineral spirits. Thin the first coat of chalk paint with about 20% water. Wait at least 24 hours before second coat, 2 days is better.Helpful Reply -
