I had a friend that did this. He took his daughters bed frame to a sand blaster. It had some brass "Knuckles" on it and he just covered it with HD Carpet tape of some kind (it was blue back then). Of course, primed and painted nicely afterwards.Helpful Reply -

You can sand blast it by hand or machine. I did this to one of my old beds and it worked great. Once I got it sanded down I spray painted it.Helpful Reply -

An easy way is to use a metal brush. There are handhelds, or one you can attach to the drill to do it fasterHelpful Reply -

Use citriStrip and leave on over night covered with plastic. The paint almost jumps off on its own. For intricate areas dip green scatchy in stripper and wouldn't have a problem. Has a nice citrus smell. I stripped the epoxy paint from my bathtub after a resurface went bad. Learned this after 1st week on Hometalk!Helpful Reply -

I don't recall, but it was down to the metal. Prime right away to keep it from rusting, then the color is your choice.Helpful Reply -
