Light grey with a darker grey accent wall. Use touches of silver in accessories. Very chic.

light tan or light grey. with the floor being dark, you really should keep the walls light.

Off white is always a good choice if you need light. You can do an accent wall in a dark color such as a silvery grey.

depends on what the rooms are used for and what you want them to look like after. Consider the furniture, is it bulky, colored with a pattern, etc. Do you want the room to have a masculine look? a cabin like feel? consider that then best suggestion is go to the paint department and find the color of your carpet on a paint chip, then test out other chips next to it. Find a combination you like. If you are still unsure what I will do is get several combinations you like and go tape them to the wall, close to the carpet so you can see how the colors look together, then I decide. Remember a color always dries darker than you expect it to.

a friend has burgundy and a darker mustard color, but I think earth tones would be a safe bet, tans, browns...

Gray or beige would look good with burgundy. So would off white, especially if you put up a chair rail and painted the top and bottom different colors.
