What Color Stain and Plain or Hardware on Our Table?

Hi Hometalkers! We need your opinions. We are asking you all tonight about the table we have built. Do you like the top plain or with the hardware? and what is your stain color choice - 1. My eyes are drawn below the table top to the intricate design of it's legs.... But after you added the hardware.. some how the two designs meet and I see the table as one Beautiful piece.... Which ever you chose I'm sure it will be lovely and work with your room... Very Nice!

oak stain, no hard ware. Satin finish poly to finish, with light sanding in between three layer of poly. It will be amazing! Similar to decoupage. Hope this helps you...

I like the oak w/the hardware....it can support the hardware because of its size and weight...by support I mean it looks right.

Black oak has always been my favorite. I wouldn't put hardware as it may scratch what is laid on the table.

Aged oak with NO hardware. Although the hardware is pretty, I prefer the simple beauty of the plain wood the ornate curves of the legs.

My vote is oak and NO hardware. Hardware would collect too much dust and be hard to get clean next to the wood. I would then finish with 4 or 5 coats of tongue oil with sanding with 000 steel wool between each coat. Great finish and easy to clean.

My vote is for the dark walnut, Katrina is right oak stain is outdated. I think the hardware is to much. Less is better.

OAK AND NOOOOO HARDWARE for sure! If you put hardware on it, no matter what size of hardware, it's going to interfere with drinks and plates, etc. Do NOT put hardware on it. LESS IS MORE!

Walnut stain, no hardware. The hardware takes the elegance away, and makes it look like barn furniture. Will be anxious to see what it looks like when finished.

Personally I would save your hardware for another project, like a chest or coffee table. I prefer Dark Walnut, and would give it at least two coats. The wood grain will still show through. You could distress the table a bit here and there and use the Aged Oak for the distressed areas. Can't wait to see the finished product.
