Hi Jo. Usually the kick plates come with the cabinets you purchase, so they would be the same color as the cabinets. You could make them what ever you wanted though as long as it all flows.

  • mine match my cabinets. I like it that way. but you can have it tie into whatever you like.

All depends on the design your looking for? Some kitchens will run a rubber mold on the toe kick and the walls to match. Others will use the same baseboard as the walls. Sky the limit just depending on what suits your fancy? Nothing written in stone, it’s up to you how do you want it to look?

I ended up building my cabinets and painting them white but when I got down to the kick plate I went ahead and stained that the same color as my floors and I like how now it just disappears, like the cabinets are floating. Traditionally though I believe the kick plates are usually the same color as the cabinets

I agree with the two prior answers, whatever you choose is what “you” like and it will be fine.

Most of the time, they match the cabinets. That way it is a seamless look going to the floor. However, I saw a home where the kick toes had been painted black, and the homeowner had added small "feet" to the corners of each cabinet. It gave a beautiful furniture-style appearance and made it look like the cabinets were custom-built.
