Celestial Ceiling Mural

I painted a celestial mural on the ceiling of my front porch. This was inspired by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando. At one Wiseacres Wizarding Equipment in Diagon Alley there is a beautifully painted celestial mural. I have been looking for the perfect spot in my home to do something similar. I decided to do paint one on the ceiling of my front porch.

This is the porch before. It was plain white. The siding is made of vinyl that has a texture on it that looks like wood.

I began by painting the ceiling with blue and black exterior paints. I purchased a couple sample cans from the hardware store. I went back and forth between the blue and black using the same brush. I did two coats.

After the base had dried I sprayed on some blue spray paint over it to cover and bare patches. Let it dry completely.

I created a star stencil with my Glowforge laser printer. You could easily purchase a ready made stencil from the craft store or Amazon.

I sprayed gold stars over the blue base with regular gold spray paint.

Here is the after shot now that everything is done!

Where did you find the star stencil?

This isn’t about the ceiling, which is beautiful, but about the color of your front door. Do you by chance know the name of the color and brand? Purple is my favorite color and I’d like my door to be that color too. It pops out beautifully.
