How do I paint my formica bathroom paneling?

How do I paint my formica bathroom paneling that was installed in 1980? Also, should I remove the strips that cover the seams or paint over them? Thank you for your advice.

How can I paint a white shiny wall board in my bathroom?

Our bathroom has shiny wallboard with lots of nail holes. I am wondering what kind of paint would work best or maybe it would be best to just get new wall board !!
Take a good photo ( or better yet a sample piece) to the paint dept. at your home improvement store and ask for their professional advice on materials and application methods.
Rustoleum now makes a brush on paint for plastics. I would first rough the surface, slightly, with sandpaper, use a primer, then paint. Removing the strips will be problematic as they have grooves that the panels slip into. You may end up breaking the edges of the panels. Maybe paint them a different color?
Barbara....It can be cleaned well and then use primer with the color you want already in it. You may want extra coats but it should work. This product can be picked up at Walmart.
