I would use one of the metallic spray paints. Tape or block the glass parts with cardboard before spraying. There are also craft paints you can brush on. Clean them well first, and lightly sand the finish if they are smooth or glossy so the paint will adhere better.

Have you looked for spray paint? If your local Walmart store does not carry the metallic gold you want, you can check online for the one you want in Walmart online shopping. I did that just recently. Inquire at your local home improvement store too. Get to know the people behind the counter in home improvement, they love to help and can be a wealth of information!

I agree with Cynthia, her ideas are the best way to paint a lantern gold. If you do use spray paint, be sure you use it outside or at least in a well ventilated area. Open windows and use fans to keep the air moving. Wishing you the best!

Spray paint them using Rustoleums 2X for metal applying two light coats allowing to dry in-between

remove the glass inserts and cover up anything you don't want painted with painter's tape. Then spray.
