How can i paint over glazed tiles to make them non-slip?

Mix play sand in with your paint to make an non-slip surface -

There are additives that you can purchase to add to paint. Also, you can purchase builder's grade sand and that works too. -

Do i need to 'rough up' the glazed tiles first and, if so, how? -
Yes, it pays to roughen the surface first, and if you are using the excellent advice above it doesn't really matter what grade of sandpaper you use. But it's not an easy task so perhaps (depending on the area) hire a floor scrubber?
