Clean them really well to get rid of dirt, grime or grease that accumulates on every kitchen cabinet . Take down the doors , removing the hardware and labeling everything so that you know where it came from (and where to put it back when you're done .) Sand everything down with a fine grit sandpaper like 220, and then wipe clean . Tape off walls and back splash so you don't get paint on them and you're ready to begin .
I suggest you choose a paint specifically designed for kitchen cabinets , one that's easy to clean . Take a picture of your current cabinets to paint store with and speak with person who mixes the paint . They can help you out with whether or not you need a primer and picking the right paint. Best wishes !
