Hi Peggy, I have several wood counter tops in my home that I used for bathroom vanities. I put three coats of poly acrylic on all of them and its holding up just fine!

According to finishing expert Bob Flexner, all finishes are food-safe once they have cured. Polyurethane varnish does not present any known hazard. However, no finish is food safe until it has fully cured. The rule of thumb for full curing is 30 days at room temperature (65- to 75- degrees F).

Sure but you should not ever use it for cutting. Will ruin your knives, cut thru the protection and is very absorbent and will hold bacteria

  • All my wood cutting boards are bare wood. They must be cleaned properly and never mix meat or poultry with fruits and vegetables. I have quite a variety and all marked for intended purpose. Never place raw food on a counter top. Always a meal prep board.

  • Cutting boards don't need a top coat. If they're looking dry, you can rub some mineral oil into them and wipe it off.
