Clean the cabinets well, remove the doors, drawers and hardware, label the drawers and doors to make sure you put them back in the same place at the end. Sand with electric sander, prime with Kilz (2 coats at least), paint 2-3 coats. Lightly sanding in between each coat, make sure each coat is completely dry before painting another coat. This is a big job and is very time consuming. Important to get expensive brushes and rollers for the best finish. Be sure to look at YouTube videos for more information or Google since I just gave you a bried overview.Helpful Reply -

My kitchen cabinets are 80's cabinets with a sticky lacquer on them.

I want to paint them but how can I do that without stripping them. Some of the lacquer is pealing off in strips. The other is sticky around the stove. Any advise?
