I have walnut stained floors.Should the shoe Moulden be painted white?

It really is a matter of preference. My flooring guy and painter both told me that the shoe moulding should be the same stain as the floor, however I have seen it painted the same color as the trim and actually think that looks better. I have lived with my shoe moulding stained for several years and am in the process of re painting all of my trim at which time I will include the shoe moulding.Helpful Reply -

It really is a matter of preference . The more traditionalistwill say stain the same color as the floors . Others say paint the same color as the trim in the room . Go with what you like best since its your home and you're the one who will be looking at it every day .Helpful Reply -

Here is a picture of dark flooring with an off-white baseboard. We did this in a rental townhouse. As you can see the shoe molding is the same color as the floor.Helpful Reply -

I too, prefer the shoe molding to be the same color as the base board. Depends on the overall look of the room.Helpful Reply -

Would it devalue my fireplace to paint it out in white? It is currently gray brick.

We have built-ins on either side of our gray brick fireplace, and I would love to paint the fireplace out in white. However, my husband feels it would be a bad idea.
