Should you paint baseboards before the walls?

no, I wouldn't because the wall paint may drip on the woodwork, whereas the woodwork painting would be done with a brush so more control.Helpful Reply -

Hi Jan, I think you should paint the walls and then paint the base boards. If you are going to paint the ceiling too, start with ceiling first. Always "top to bottom" when it comes to painting.Helpful Reply -

Please - paint the walls first. If there are any accidental drips, they won't ruin your freshly painted baseboards.Helpful Reply -

Gently pry the baseboards off the walls and paint them separately. The walls can be painted close to the floor, the baseboards won’t have any drips and it’s much easier...once all is painted put the baseboards back on.Helpful Reply -

We have built-ins on either side of our gray brick fireplace, and I would love to paint the fireplace out in white. However, my husband feels it would be a bad idea.
