What is the best kind of paint finish for a front door?

We have a boring wooden front door with Craftsmen style details I want to jazz up this summer. What my go to finish is is semi-gloss. But is that good for a front door? The door is protected by a full glass/screen door too. Any color suggestions for a gray house's front door?

I would use an outdoor house paint. I would think semi-gloss would be fine. As for color, I think yellow, turquoise, cobalt, pink, or even black would look great. You'll want to coordinate with your trim color. Not neccessarily match but just coordinate.

Absolutely, I work for a big box hardware store. Semigloss is recommended for front doors, it is easy to clean. Also because of the slick surface it is less likely to have dust and dirt collect on it

Semigloss works great for doors. There is usually an exterior paint option. My door is colored "autumn leaves", which is more of a barn red with a slight brown tone. A huge amount of door color options really depends on your foliage, trim colors and which direction your house faces. I am a huge fan of a red front door, but I have seen some beautiful lavendar colored front doors also.
