I want to paint my old laminated cabinets but i don't know what kind of paint should I use or if I need any primer first, please can you help me? I'm desperate, they look so ugly now. Thank you so much.

If you want a super easy way to do it, with no prep involved, you want to use chalk paint. It requires no sanding or primer. You just clean your surface and paint. You need to clean well, though, to make sure all grease is off the surfaces. Then apply a polyurethane coat to protect it. Latex paint would require you to clean, sand down and then apply a primer. People really like Zinsser 123 Primer or Kilz Primer for kitchen cabinets.

Make sure they are clean and dry. Use acrylic latex paint. Remove the doors and hardware. Mark the doors and cabinets with tape where they go. Lightly sand the doors and cabinets to remove any gloss and roughen the surface for paint. Prime with a stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123. Then paint with your color. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.

first clean them and remove doors. Sand lightly if needed. Then apply primer let dry a few hours and then paint. Also many home improvement stores carry kits for painting laminate countertops and or cabinets. They can tint in variety of colors. I would start there. Good luck
