I loved the calendar and I loved the little boxy shaped suitcase, but it was ugly. I ripped out all the insides and put new materials, then the calendar fell off the wall and I ended up with this great duo!
This is in the end, drying and airing insides out.
I loved this vintage box but it was terrible. So I scrapped the insides and mod podged new fabric with dryer sheets between. Then This old calendar fell on the floor and an idea was born. Her i had to figure out how it would fit.
Then I spray painted the suitcase the day before a brilliant Krylon for plastic metallic Gold, the super shiny blend, Let it dry a couple days before I mod podged under and on top of the calendar.
The other side.
aw I was SO excited with the gold paint.
New material mod podged in with the dryer sheet. It didn't even have liner it had some peeling old wall or contact paper.
Tidied up the edges with an exacto blade, put some extra mod podge on the ends to make sure no material threaded. I decided later to add a pretty edging ribbon.
Gold paint or any metallic, to my experience, always puts off the most exquisite textures on ANYTHING! Glassware, even suitcases!
One side fully dried, no loose ends, love it!
And the other side dried. This side, since the calendar is threaded little stems, I had problems keeping them together. For future reference, I might mod podge the calendar first, to prevent this.
The gold sides!!!! I LOVE it now! Everywhere I go friends ask if I can make them one.

Anytime you repurpose something old.... there is an "old" smell that has permeated the entire item. No cleaning will get rid of that odour. Dryer sheets helps covering "old" smells for a short while. The worst smell is old leather. I have washed leather.. washed and scented... hung leather outside for months in the winds.. old leather smell will not get out of the dead skin.
