Living Room Accent Wall

Accent walls are a fun way to add character and a focal point to a large room. We recently took a few hours to add an accent wall to our living room space and I haven't regretted it one bit! Let’s talk about how to choose an accent wall for your living room and how you can easily make a big impact to your space in a very short period of time!
There are some easy accent wall rules. First, remember that the best walls for accent walls are typically walls with no windows or doors. You can even consider making a decorative accent wall by adding elements to the walls like paneling, wainscoting, or ship lapping to add interest to the accent wall if desired!
Don’t be scared to try a bold color. That’s the beauty of an accent wall, you can add that pop of color you wanted without committing to painting your entire room that color!
Don’t stop with the paint! Accent walls are great because they become focal points in your room, so be sure to think about how to carefully style the wall. I think painted accent walls are the PERFECT spaces for a bold gallery wall showcasing your favorite family photos…and in upcoming weeks I’m going to share how I decorated my dark blue accent wall in my living room!
My tip is to enlist in the help of someone to help you conceptualize your space..
I worked with Modsy to mock up what a living room makeover WITH an accent wall might look like, which is why I decided to go the accent wall direction after all…
They gave me two options for my space, which ultimately helped me choose the accent wall in the end.
When we actually got around to painting the wall, we used the HomeRight PaintRight EZ-Twist because it literally just sucks the paint up into the handle and you roll it right on! We still keep a paint tray handy to rest the roller in, but it’s so much less clean up and it just rolls straight onto the wall! I was excited to see the EZ-Twist at Lowe’s when I was selecting my accent wall paint colors!
What color is our navy blue accent wall, you may ask? We used the gorgeous Slate Tile color from Sherwin Williams and the other walls are Repose Gray also by Sherwin Williams.
Now that our accent walls are painted and we painted the trip a nice bright, crisp white, I’m now working on styling the space. You’ll notice we lost the large white credenza and replaced it with a smaller wood and metal sofa table from Morris Home Furniture (more on that later). I also added a pretty task lamp from Target.
You’ll notice the black frame on the table…that’s the frame I’m going to use for the gallery wall, but Target didn’t have enough of them, so I have to order them online (I’ll be sharing more on that later, as well)!
I think accent walls are such a fun way to completely change the look of your room and right now navy blue accent walls with a gorgeous gallery wall are all the rage.
