how would you decorate recessed walls ?

a new home where I have about 6 spaces on wall that are recessed would you paint ,put pictures or what for that wall space ?

What size are they? Knowing the height, depth and width would help. Are they lined up....etc.... And ofcourse pictures are worth a thousand words.

If you can add pictures or dimensions I could get a better idea for you. Also, are the walls painted? Papered?..Just let us know and I'm sure we all can come up with lots of ideas!
