Lawn question

I have a low area in my back yard and that area is always wet and stays wet and soft long after any rain or snow. I am not sure if I should add dirt to the area to make it better or if adding tile to the yard and having it run out to the street if that would fix the problem. Any suggestions will be helpful and I can add pictures if that would help.

Pictures would probably help, but it sounds like you have a drainage problem, and water from all over your property is draining to this spot, where it can't go anywhere. So I think you need to get a French drain or similar system put in, but for dealing with the drainage on your whole property, not just this spot. You can search at the top of the page for landscapers and other contractors in your area who can help with this.

Remember the cardinal rule that water runs downhill when installing drain pipe to the street. Minimize dips and turns on the way there.

Or you could create a back yard bog garden, and fill it with plants that like just the conditions you have.

Doesn't look like anything dramatic here. Definitely seems like it's worth having a couple of landscapers out there to offer a plan for you, and give you some estimates.

You have a straight shot to the street, so as long as it is downhill you should have a fairly easy fix.
