Weed issue in my Bermuda!!

Question

My lawn is bermuda and because of the warm winter in GA. and the rain this year I have henbit all over my lawn!!! I pulled some up and took it to Pike's so they could tell me what it was..What do you suggest I do about this stuff?? If I put a preamergent down that will not kill what is up correct?? It would kill any weeds that are underground correct?? I looked at Lesco preamergent!! Do I need to put a weed killer down???

I got sick and tired of trying to keep weeds out of my Zoysia. I called TruGreen! It is only about $40 each for 8 visits a year and we never have to do a thing! We were easily spending over $320 a year on fertilizer, preemergence, etc. and a lot of worry and work and still never seemed to beat the beast. It is the best money I have ever spent! Our neighbors have a lot of crab grass and I saw a few spots in my yard. I picked up the phone and TruGreen was out there in a day or so and sprayed those spots! Good luck! Pick up the phone! I did not mention our yard is small, but then if it were bigger, we would have been spending more time and money....so it is all relative!

Shirley, you are absolutely right that a pre-emergent will have no effect on weeds that are up and growing. A pre-emergent applied in the fall would probably have had some effect on your henbit, but now your choices are to apply a weed killer like Image, or to pull it. Steve's links provide further advice for both of those options.

I may call a lawn service and let them take care of the weeds issue!!! I should have put a pre-emergent down in the fall and did not and now I'm playing for it with henbit!!! Thanks, Everyone
