What is this little tag on back of the chair for?

I have this dining set for like 30years now, and not knowing what are the purposesof that little brassy tag really for, too small for names, 1in x 1.5in from bottom. Any ideas? Or some better idea.
It's. Just decoration
I believe it's just for decoration or it could be part of the manufacturer's branding. I'm not sure what you could do with them, but if you're tired of the brass, you could always repaint them to stand out or fade away.
Maybe it is for a monogram. Or maybe it is just design.
