I saw someone online once say to spray air from an air compressor into one end and place a vacuum to suck the air on the other end? Don't know if it works.Helpful Reply -

It wouldn't hurt to clean all the vents and as far into the vent as your arm or a brush can reach, then vacuum what you knocked loose. Vacuum as close to your heater as you can, too. If you can access some of the ductwork in the attic or basement, try to locate any rips, holes or disconnections in the ducts. Clean in and around those places. Duct tape will probably repair any damage. If you find ductwork that is rusted or deteriorated, you can probably replace sections of the ductwork yourself with scissors and duct tape. All of these things will cost less than $450, even if you have to buy some new ductwork. Best wishes 😇Helpful Reply -

We had a reputable furnace company tell us they don't offer duct cleaning because it is unnecessary and just a way for companies to make money. If there is no break in your ductwork, the air filters should do the jobHelpful Reply -

I disagree about not doing it, We had ours done when a new furnace and air conditioner were installed. What a difference. Go with the first persons advice. Any cleaning is better than none and so is the repairs as needed.Helpful Reply -

Whatever you do, consider using the newer hi-tech furnace filters that are available, like the 3M type. I put them in my older air-conditioning system, and they worked very well.Helpful Reply -

I don't agree that its useless service, cause as a manager responsible for workplaces, I can tell you there is a bunch of gunk and a huge amount of dust comes out of them. If the area were the duct is in a bathroom, you wouldn't believe the mold in there. If its an allergy problem it would be worth it, then put in the best filter you can.I have negative ion generators to keep the dust down and pollens, since I'm allergic.Helpful Reply -
