How can i find a stud behind a tiled wall with 1" drywall?

Best way is Good "Stud Finder" from local hardware store. Or other side?

can you get the the other side of the wall? If it’s any easier to find the stud on the other side, then you can measure on the side you can find the stud and transfer measurements on your tiled side!

You can also try the old fashion way and pound on your wall with your fist and you can hear pounding when you hit a stud. It will sound more hollow till you get right on the stud and the sound will change! Those don’t work, I’m out of suggestions unless you have a area where it wouldn’t be noticeable to drive a thin nail in the grout to find a stud and grout the holes from the nails afterwards?

if the house is fairly modern and was built to code, studs should be 16” on centre apart....measure 16” from the corner and punch a test hole...

Barry, I know this sounds crazy to some, but this really works for us. Look at your hand. Are you right or left handed? I am right, so I will show you with my right hand, ok? As I bend the first finger, I see the knuckle on the second joint. Use this joint, and tap the walls, in a straight line across the wall. Not all walls, have joints every 12", or 18 ", so be aware of this, ok? As you go across the wall, you will hear the same noise, for 4-5 feet, then you will hear a diff noise. Do NOT miss a large area, for you must hit every inch, to find he joint. When you have hit the diff. noise, this is the joint. Take a pencil, and make a small mark, or a measuring stick to mark it, then, go down the line and this should be the same noise, tho not always.

for some times, they use 2 separate pieces of wood. This depends on the maker of the trailer., or home., or if they truly followed the rules to the code of the home. I hope this helps you, best wishes, and if this fails to help you, write back, and we will try a diff idea, Judy.

You tried all options. Go with Holly's suggestion. Measure from a corner and slowly drill a hole in a grout joint till you hit the drywall. Then hammer a nail into the hole. If it goes in solid you hit a stud.
