The hole repaired
How do I cover this repair?

We had a hole in the dry wall which my hubby is fixing on his own. It’s still work in progress but we have no clue how to cover it or paint it after. Reason being the paint in our living room is a special effect kind and I’m not sure how to match it. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance.

How do I cover up old molly bolt holes?

I need to paint my bathroom and there are 8-10 molly bolt holes that were previously painted over. Is there a way to cover, hide, or fix these holes in the wall?
If you can't replicate the special effect, you will need to repaint the wall. Make sure, after the patch is smooth and sanded, that you prime this area. If you don't prime, you will always see the patch under the paint.
Smooth and sand the patch. Go to the paint store and bring home color swatches that you think will match some of the colors. The color you choose much match perfectly. Paint the darkest shade color you choose first. Then choose the lighter shade and dry brush it on quickly, making stroke marks like the ones you already have on the wall. It won't be hard. You can try until you get it just right. The only part you have to be particular about are the paint colors matching just right.
Make sure to sand and prime the patched area first. Then make a template of the repair and using painter's tape continue the shape as a pattern the whole length of the staircase. Find one colour from the wall (looks like gold, brass, bronze, copper mix) that you think really looks good as an accent. Paint the taped off areas in this colour. Likely require 2 - 3 coats. Possibly more on the repair. Use a chip brush and don't worry about the brush marks. They will keep it looking planned as there is a texture to the existing wall treatment.
Good luck!
Wood stain similar to the current stain and a wood graining tool. Although, you might have to sand the whole project and go a bit darker in color since your patch is so light.
