Just make sure you follow local building code, pull your permits and have inspected! 👍Helpful Reply -

YOU don't.... You will need to consult a Structural Architect and they will determine IF the wall can be removed, HOW it can be removed, and WHAT it is to be replaced with... HomeAdvisor.com or AngiesList.com can put you in contact with a verified one...DO THIS FIRST... the structural integrity of your home is in jeopardy if you do not.Helpful Reply -

I agree with Marty. You will definitely need a Structural Engineer to properly size the header you will need. You can't just slap anything up there. You will also need to pull a permit, follow codes, and have it inspected. You are not only playing with the integrity of the home but your homeowners insurance, and local building and tax codes.Helpful Reply -

I agree with Marty and William. The last thing you need is for your home to cave in.Helpful Reply -
