Patch with sheetrock mud. If the holes are large, use one of the mesh patches and then mud. After you are done, you can texture it. They sell it in spray cans at most big box stores.

If the ceiling is superficially dirty, try blowing it for cleaning and a microfiber duster. If it's beyond that, you may want to paint it. Increase your paint by 25% at least because it soaks up the paint.

Hi Sharon, you can buy a kit from the home improvement stores to repair the stipple, here is a link to show you how

It might be time to paint the ceiling! Popcorn is hard to clean! Use a ceiling paint that goes on a light purple and then dries to a bright white. I believe that Dutch Boy ceiling paint does that. I have used that a few times to paint my popcorn ceilings. You can at least see then where you have painted while you are up on a ladder!

Sharon..l would suggest you use a feather duster..l use a step later & gently sweep my ceilings..it takes a little time but works well for me..also be prepared to clean dust from everything because it will fall unless you cover with sheet, etc. Good luck

I would repair it and then repaint it so it blends together.

I agree Cynthia. You need some sort of Spackling Compound to fill the holes. Because the Spackle will not blend with the ceiling color, you will need to paint the entire ceiling.

Careful - asbestos was most likely used for the texture. Painting over it will help encapsulate particles and give a clean + uniform finish. Avoid sanding +/or use mask when you patch/spackle the holes.

You can buy the texture in a spray can!

You could repair with compound and make the compound stick off like the rest .when dry you should paint it with a fuzzy roller

You can find a lot of tutorials online. But, trust me, I have tried several of them, and all I did was make it worse. Don't repeat my mistake and ask a professional company like https://www.paintingservicesingapore.sg/house-painting-services/ for help. In the end, it will be cheaper, believe me. Plus, the quality of the work will be a lot higher. You'll also get a guarantee, and in case something goes wrong with the ceiling, you'll have whom to ask for help without worrying about paying twice.
