Can a new garage door remote opener be programmed by the homeowner?

Check at your home improvement store with the associate that handles that area. He will be able to help you. My son programmed his new truck to open the garage door in seconds, so it may be a simple thing to do. Our garage door opener is not a new one by a long shot, so perhaps your will be easy to do with their helpful advise. The other way would be to talk to someone in customer service at the manufacturer of the garage door opener.Helpful Reply -

If you mean replacing the complete opener there will be intructions with it. If you mean just the remote you will need a universal one that is compatible with your opener or get an OEM one that matches your unit. Owners manual for your opener will have instructions how to program or you can go online with the model number download/ look a manual.Helpful Reply- See 1 previous
