How do I cover heavy black electric cord to disguise it?

I bought a fake log for my bedroom fireplace. It’s hokey and I love it but the heavy cord is black and the floor is oak and walls are light color. Can I cover it with colored duct tape? Or paint? I’m afraid it will overheat whatever I do.

Amazon and others sell products called "cable concealers". Attach to the baseboard, run the wire through it, and snap the cover on. -

Cord cover! And no it will not overheat because you cover the cord. -
