How do I get an etched ring off of my marble vanity top?

I mistakenly set my jewelry cleaner jar on my new marble vanity top. It etched a light ring on the surface. A service said they would have to charge us $450 to re-hone the entire surface. That's more than we paid for the thing in the first place! HELP

That's about the right price, may as well buy a new top. The only thing I know to tell you is use car wax to try to even out the finish. Marble people don't tell you this but it is very soft and porous. Some soft soaps will stain it. Hard water will eventually etch it. Make sure you have sealed it. Water should bead up on it and reseal at least once a year. Sorry this happened to you.
Annie,. I'd Google it. "how to remove jewelry cleaner from marble". I have a dining room table which is marble. There's a receipe, you can do with baking soda, but I can't remember it, and I didn't write it down. Here's the toll free number for the baking soda company. 1-800-524-1328. They make the baking soda, it's in a orange box. Maybe the company can help you. That's the best I can do. Aloha!
Thanks!
