For some reason this pressure treated deck was painted. It is chipping and splintering. I would like to remove the paint and stain or repaint if need be. I have been told pt wood can not be sanded. I am not a DIY person and I know it will take a lot of time and energy. I can not pay a professional. Could you please give me suggestions on how to tackle this project? Thanks!

Use a pressure washer but too much pressure can damage the wood..if painted again put a sealer over paint

You can sand this. Depending on deck size and if you can, rent a sander from somewhere like Home Depot, or borrow one from a friend. After sanding, wash off dust, let dry throughly, and seal with a long lasting sealer. The few extra $ for a good sealer will be worth it in the long run.
“Behr Deck Plus Solid Color Waterproofing Wood Stain” looks like the favorite. About $30 a gallon.
