Is it necessary to seal a black top driveway? If so, how often?

Hi Mary, Yes. You need to seal your blacktop. How often depends on how old the driveway is. My driveway was just installed last year. The company foreman who installed it told us to seal it this year. And then every 3 years after that. If your driveway is older, you should seal it every 1 - 2 years. If you go any longer, you risk cracking it. Hope this helps.Helpful Reply -

it isn't necessary and I don't have mine sealed but sealing closes off the "pores" from oil stains and the water runs off faster when it rains. My neighbors have had theirs sealed for several years and it doesn't seem like it needs it again right now.Helpful Reply -

Yes it is, but contrary to popular belief, it shouldn't be sealed annually. Every other year is better.Helpful Reply -
