get a plunger. Most people just pop it in and start pushing. What you want is an air pocket in the cup of the plunger to cover the hole and force air and water at the clog. If you are doing it correctly you will feel a good suction when you pull up on the plunger, thus loosening the clog as it pushes AND pulls the clog loose.
Many people use hot water and a beehive plunger.
I bought a 6’ snake that chucks into my cordless drill & it works well.
