you need to remove the trim pieces from the garage, and replace...ive got the same job to do come warmer weather. You could just replace the rotted parts...but I think it will look nicer to do it all. Prime and paint each board....or if your lumberyard carries the right pieces they may be pre primed.

thank you. Just left Home Depot and got all of the same pieceS. Hardest part was trying to match the paint.

And be sure you put some sort of moisture barrier (like a piece of composition roofing) under the new piece of wood to prevent a reoccurance

The boards can be removed one at a time and used for measuring the replacement pieces. Before replacement I would put a coat of exterior primer on the back of each board so that they last much longer. You can fully paint the boards before installation and then touch up the screw/nail holes. It will take longer this way but then you will get a more professional finish.

Thank you for the suggestions you all made. Hubby and I have to do the same exact places on our garage next summer!

I would also seal that bottom edge with some marine epoxy paint to seal the end grain, and not let it touch the concrete, cause it wicks moisture right up into the wood and rots it.
