we recently built a deck and I wanted something other than wood for the steps. We bought the cement blocks that have the two open spaces and a couple of 7 1/2 by 11 concrete pavers . I'm having trouble describing it. Anyway, we have two steps up and filled the concrete blocks with cement and they my husband tiled them. The pavers were used to push the second step forward. It didn't cost a lot and they aren't going anywhere Anytime soon.Helpful Reply -

Thats a good idea. I have lots of the blocks hanging around the yard. Could also dill the hoes with dirt and plant creeping herbs.Helpful Reply -

If you have any large wooden blocks around anywhere...you could place the wooden blocks...stair step fashion by partially burying a couple of them into the soil [even placing them in a semi-circle pattern/direction] & line the edges with the concrete blocks & fill the holes with soil & plant your herbs.Helpful Reply -
