The cheapest faux tile backsplash you can do, is to buy $.99 peel and stick vinyl flooring, that’s 12 in.².
Then cut the vinyl flooring pieces into smaller tile-sized pieces. Then peel and stick them to the wall.
There are many tile patterns out there that you can copy the pattern, if you don’t know what kind of tile pattern you want to cut the pieces into.
By the way, nothing will stick to a wall that has small food splatters, grease splatters or is not perfectly clean. So you want to decrease the wall and then remove the soap residue first.
