It depends in the tile
There are spacers that you can buy anywhere tile is sold. They come in different sizes. If you don't know what you're doing, home depot and lowes give classes on how to tile.
Buy the little plastic "X" shaped spacers. They come in various sizes depending on the grout dimension you want. However, some tiles (like for backsplashes) have ridges on the sides to properly space those tiles. Tile supplier will give you instructions.

You could pick up inexpensive tile spacers at Home Depot or Lowe’s.
