What kind of kitchen floor tile keep its color and not scratch off?

by Jca32694589
the color on my kitchen floor tile has scratched off over the years leaving white places in front of the stove, sink and under the table. What kind of tile should I buy that has color all the way through and can withstand dogs and boys? Thanks so much!

Porcelain or clay tiles should both work. It looks like your tiles were painted after firing

solid slate for black or marble for lighter colors. Not to pricey if caught on sale. Both are solid all the way through. Some building supply stores like home depot give free how to lessons, check with customer service.

I get the sense that you’re wanting another vinyl type product. Look for solid vinyl tiles where the color goes throughout the tile, not an overlay on the surface. Otherwise, porcelain, wood are very reliable flooring products for kitchens. It really comes down to $$$ and taste.

Wouldn't be better to just ask the people at a tile store? They are the experts in all that stuff.. Also people are loving all that wood looking tile planks.. I bet they are not colored all the way through if they are they are not with wood grain. Looks awesome but chips will happen. You are best to plan for the chips than not. Just so everyone knows there are some awesome vinyl floors out there now. High quality and very durable. So real looking like people can't tell it from ceramic/porcelain tile.

You may want to consider acid stained concrete if your house is on a concrete pad. It can be done to look like tile and is cheaper than tile. It lasts forever with very minimal maintenence and cost. Later it can be covered if you need a change.

Wow! Never saw ceramic wear down like that! Sorry, I assumed it was vinyl. The other folks are right...porcelain tile as color throughout.
