I found 2 cabinet doors at a garage sale for $2. With a little chalk and chalkboard paint I was able to upcycle them into serving trays. Use them as a serving tray, message board, and more - these make great gifts! You can see more of my crazy creations here
I started by removing the hardware that was still on them, filling the holes with wood filler, letting that dry, and sanding the entire door.
Once that was done I wiped the whole thing clean.
I painted one of the boarders with Home Decor Chalk Paint Lilac and the other Home Decor Chalk Paint Parisian Gray. I painted 2 coats letting it dry between each coat.
I painted the center of both of them with Folk Art Chalkboard Paint and let it dry completely.
I got drawer handles at Lowes for $2 for each of them. We drilled a guide hole where the screws would go, and then screwed them into place.
I seasoned both of the chalkboards by coating them in chalk and erasing them. This helps the words to "not stick".
You can use these boards to write greetings, messages, what your serving, etc.
Use them to treat yourself - makes a great gift. You can also use them at festive occasions. They are an extremely useful item all year around.

I'll be checking every junk store and yard sale in town until I find a cabinet door worthy of this adorable project.
