I love using branch cuttings from dogwood shrubs for winter decor. They have a unique bright red color that looks great at Christmas.
Plastic tea lights from the dollar store, bells, ribbons, you could also decorate the pinecones of dye them different colors. Whire Birch always looks good with pine branches.

I picked up some fillers at Dollar Tree that are small, round, and glittery. They had 2 different color combinations: red & gold or green & silver.
If you have larger containers, pine branches would work well.

If the containers are large enough, you could add some small pine boughs for the holidays.
Candles, branch cuttings, you can spray paint the pine cones and acorns, add snow. etc.
Sometimes the Dollar Store sells faux white branches that look really real.

Hi Rosalie, you can soften the look of the acorns and pine cones with some reindeer moss.
Willow branches or dogwood branches would look pretty, especially if you wind some tiny fairy lights around them
Be sure to use some weight into the bases of the containers with something like glass drops or pebbles otherwise they wall be top heavy!
