How could I use PVC pipe for copper rings?

Would PVC pipe work for the copper rings or would the squirrels chew through it?

Those rodents may chew on it.
Squirrels love to chew, rings made of pvc might be an attraction to them.
Thanks, I was afraid of that. That bird feeder was really really neat.
Karen, you're right, PVC wouldn't be a good alternate choice. But you don't have to go with something as expensive as copper! There are other types of pipe that would work - and you could spray them any color you like. The birds won't be affected because they're after the seed. Just make sure the pipe is rust proof and the paint is an outdoor UV resistant type. Then have a blast making a super unique bird feeder. You've actually inspired me!
No idea what copper rings are but I use red pepper and red pepper flakes to keep squirrels from eating my melons. Last year 5hey ate my peaches so this year I plan to put netting on my tree, place the fruit in bags and tie bags of chilli powder in the tree...hot pepper spray around the stalks of my 18 ft sunflowers keeps them away. Powdered red pepper works too but must be renewed after each rain
Thanks everyone! Have decided to turn this project over to my nephew.
